Life Threatening Emergencies:

In a life-threatening emergency such as sudden severe chest pain, severe breathlessness, loss of power in a limb, loss of consciousness or severe bleeding dial 999.

Injuries:

The health centre is equipped to treat minor injuries like small cuts and joint sprains. If the injury is more severe or may involve a broken bone then you should attend the local minor injuries unit at Wansbeck General Hospital A+E Dept.

Also in the event of poisoning or overdose then attend the local A+E

Urgent Problems during Surgery Hours:

For Emergencies during surgery hours you may be offered a SAME DAY appointment at our Acute Illness Clinic with one of our Senior Nursing Sisters. To be seen on the same day simply call your normal surgery number.

Our receptionists have been trained to ask specific questions to ensure you are given an appropriate appointment.

Urgent Problems outside Surgery Hours:

Providing medical services when your GP Surgery is closed is the responsibilty of Northumberland Care Trust.

For the majority of patients Northern Doctors Urgent Care (NDUC) will provide your out of hours medical service. For those patients who have never used their service these are the arrangements:

Northern Doctors Urgent Care (NDUC) - Out of Hours service is available when the surgery is closed :-

Monday to Thursday 6.30pm to 8.00am
Weekends 6.30pm on Friday to 8.00am on Monday.

This number is given on the surgery answer phone if you telephone after working hours. A leaflet explaining the new service is available in the surgery.
