Nursing Staff

All our nurses are registered with a nursing union. They have a wide range of responsibilities and duties with differing areas of special expertise and interest, providing quality of care in chronic disease management and health promotion.

They also carry out Treatment Room Duties. In addition, the Community Nurses provide care to patients in their own home, eg, following hospital discharge.

The members of our Nursing Team are:

Practice Nurse

Sister Pam Campbell
RGN, MSc (Advanced Clinical Practice), RHV, PGCE

I have worked at Wellway since December 2012, having previously worked in senior NHS management and also as a principal lecturer for Primary Care post registration education at Staffordshire University.  I have published 14 journal articles and 2 books - one on Nursing in General Practice and one on clinical competences in Women's Health.

My main clinical interests are women's health and diabetes, but I also have a passion for health promotion.  I completed a Post Graduate Certificate in Diabetes Care at Warwick University in 2013.  My role in the practice is to lead the nursing team and create an ethos of continual improvement with a team who are committed to delivering the highest standards of patient care.

The practice nursing team at Wellway has a major role to play in health screening and monitoring and our role in long-term conditions and patient education will continue to grow.

Wellway Medical Group is a Training Practice

GP Registrars & Medical Students

Wellway Medical was one of the original five training practices which started the Northumbria Vocational Training Scheme in 1969 and we have been a 'training practice' ever since.

Fully qualified doctors gain special experience of general practice during their 6 month period with us and this includes conducting surgeries, doing home visits and attending special clinics. At all times these GP Registrars are supervised by one of the partners.

Please note: Your medical records may be used for training purposes. If you have any objection to this, you should inform the surgery at your earliest opportunity.

We also have medical students with us from time to time as part of their studies and they sit in with one of the doctors during surgery. Please tell the receptionist if you wish to see the doctor alone. You will be informed if a medical student is sitting in with a Doctor.

We are pleased to be involved in the training of future general practitioners. General Practice registrars are fully qualified doctors who have chosen general practice as the career they wish to pursue. They gain valuable experience by being based in the Practice for six-months at a time. At all times they provide the same standard of care provided by the other doctors of the practice.

By the nature of the assessment of general practitioners, they may often video record consultations, this is for educational purposes only and helps the doctors improve their skills. If you do not wish your consultation to be video taped, just say so. Your care will not be affected in any way.

Senior doctors, monitoring training standards within the Practice, may occasionally view patient records. If you have any objection to this, you should inform the surgery at your earliest opportunity.
